Kebolehintegrasian Pendidikan Al-Quran Dan STEM: Kajian Kesedaran Di Kalangan Pelajar Maahad Tahfiz Sains
Abstract
The application of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning in Quranic education can make teaching activities more dynamic, constructive, interactive, hence producing good students which sensitive to STEM competencies. However, to date, such matters have not been given much attention. Therefore, a quantitative study was conducted through a Q-STEM Program to identify the awareness level among Maahad Tahfiz Science students on the integration of Quranic education with STEM. It also seeks to see any correlation in determining the feasibility of Quranic education with STEM by having students in grade 3,4 and 5 of the Tahfiz Science’s students respond to a questionnaire containing two main key constrcuts; namely knowledge before and after the Q-STEM Program. The findings showed significant improvement and positive response to students’ knowledge, attitudes, and self-confidence. Prior to participating in the Q-STEM Program, 51% of students had no interest or knowledge of STEM (including uncertain), while 49% had little interest and knowledge of STEM. This finding reflects the low level of awareness among Maahad Tahfiz Science students on the integration of Quranic education and STEM. However, after joining the Q-STEM Program, the increament in interest and attitude nearly reached 97%. This clearly demonstrates the need for a module to be developed to help teachers integrate Quranic education with STEM into their existing curriculum
