To improve the efficiency of spectral splitting photovoltaic/thermal system, the effect of reflectors on system optical performance is discussed. The optical system is simulated by using TracePro software. This paper investigates the effects of reflectors on sun light transmittance and light uniformity on the solar cells when sunlight tracking error or quartz tube installation error is exist in the system. The results showed that there are significant light leakage losses within the non reflector system. The transmittance of the system is 48.59%, and the uniformity is 88.89%. Reflectors were then introduced in order to reduce the losses and improve the system, where the best tilt angle ? is 2.5°. The transmissivity is 63.9%, which is 15.3% higher than the transmissivity of the non reflector system. The uniformity is 96.06%, which is 7.17% higher than the uniformity of the non reflector system. Further investigation on incident light tracking error, the transmissivity and the uniformity were successfully improved, up to 15.31% and 19.05%, respectively. Similar improvement has been obtained for the installation error, where the transmissivity is up to 20.04% and the uniformity is up to 11.07%. This represents that reflector can effectively optimize the performance of the concentrating spectral splitting PV/T system.
